How many webcams can I share in a meeting?
Scout Classroom is not designed as a purely video conferencing application, but rather it focuses on engagement with students
During a class, sharing of student’s video is not advisable unless specifically needed.
Ideally, Teacher’s (Moderator’s) webcam should be ON for everyone to see and follow instructions.
Webcam is not only medium to interact with students.
Scout classroom provides following aids to Teachers to engage and seek attention of their students :
- Live polling
- Multi user Whiteboard
- Video Sharing
- Shared Notes
- Break out rooms
While sharing webcams in Scout Classroom, we recommend keeping the overall number of streams under 200.
Good examples:
– 100 users with 1 webcam (1 * 100 = 100 streams)
– 12 users all sharing webcam (12 * 12 = 144 streams)
Not good examples:
– 50 users with 5 webcams (50 * 5 = 250 streams)
– 75 users with 75 webcams = 5,625 streams)
Right now, there are no fixed upper limits in the webcam sharing, but the above guidelines will ensure you and your students have a good experience.
